On March 21, 2025, Prime Minister Mark Carney officially announced the cancellation of the proposed changes to the capital gains tax. As a result, the planned increase to the capital gains inclusion rate, which would have increased the inclusion rate from one-half to two-thirds on capital gains exceeding $250,000 annually for individual Canadians, will not be implemented by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Sales coming together just days after New Year’s and lots of calls from people thinking that this might be the year to make a move. Buyers are realizing that the prices are amazing and rates are starting to come down.
