WMRCC of Durham - Seniors Social Inclusion Project

Happy to have been part of this Christmas celebration for the seniors of the WMRCC of Durham Women’s Multicultural Resource and Counseling Centre of Durham
Their Seniors Project made a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of seniors. It improved their physical health, boosted mental well-being, reduced isolation, and empowered them with knowledge and digital skills. Many participants shared that they felt more connected, confident, and supported than ever before.
The variety of activities created a safe, inclusive space where seniors could thrive, feel valued, and actively participate in their community.
Healthy Aging: Provided exercise, mindfulness, and wellness sessions—improving physical and mental health.
Knowledge & Self-Care: Workshops on dementia, elder abuse, and nutrition empowered seniors to stay safe and independent.
Social Inclusion: Social clubs, trips, and group activities reduced isolation and strengthened community bonds.
Digital Literacy: Taught computer skills and online safety, helping seniors access services and communicate confidently.
Diversity & Engagement: Celebrated multiculturalism through inclusive events, ensuring all seniors felt valued.
This year's Christmas party was their final celebration of the year, where the unity, joy, and harmony within the group are truly expressed. It reflects how happy, supportive, and connected everyone feels.
